The Hye Life

HERE IS MY LIFE STORY! DO YOU THINK THIS IS WHAT HE WANTS?

August 31, 2008: Driving to Evanston to hear the sound of Armenian music, to feel the rhythm while Armenian dancing, to eat the shish kebob and pilaf, and to see all my camp friends. This is one of the last Armenian gatherings we all have before we are drowned in our school work.

November 28-30, 2008: “Please Chelsea, come solo dance with me!” “I don’t know how so I’m just going to look stupid.” “It’s easy. Just move your hips and wrists and feel the Armenian music. You have it in you. Just follow me and everyone else.” Every Armenian in the Midwest is in Detroit during this weekend partying it up at the November dance. If you aren’t there, you are missing out. It is just an amazing weekend of Kef!

February 13, 2009: “Welcome to the Poonparegentan 2009!” “WOO!” The annual Armenian dance is finally here. This is the last time we have a big Armenian party before lent starts. Nora, Mike, Arthur, Alina, and I hit the dance floor, joining the line of Armenian dancers gliding across the dance floor doing the pomporri.

July 5-15, 2009: A pitch black basement, Armenian music blasting, and someone playing the doombag while 30 high school participants are partying. We were dancing all the line dances we knew and we were taking in the Armenian culture since we were at the Armenian Seminary.

July 17-25, 2009: “Parev. Inch bes es?” “Lav em. Shnoragal em.” The gorgeous sound of the Armenian language was filling my ears. At the St. Nersess Armenian Seminary we have Armenian class every day. I was able to say the whole alphabet of 34 letters when I returned home.

July 30-August 9, 2009: Hye Camp is finally here! It was a whole 5 days of not seeing my friends from Wisconsin and Michigan since St. Nersess ended. I am the counselor for the drama-full fifteen year old girls. Chelsea and I are also helping in arts and crafts. I am fully prepared for a week of fun activities, hanging out with friends, getting no sleep, and having Kef every night.

August 30, 2009: Another Evanston picnic! Chelsea is coming in state from Detroit and I am so excited. Nora is performing with the Armenian Dance Group of Chicago and then we are all going to dance in the street until it gets dark out.

THE WHOLE PAPER!!

OK SO HERE IS MY WHOLE PAPER. I DONT THINK IT IS THAT GREAT BUT YOU GUYS CAN BE THE JUDGE OF THAT. JUST ONE QUESTION IS WHEN YOU GET TO NUMBER TEN, DO YOU THINK I SHOULD JUST WRITE "FORGIVENESS AND THAT SECOND LINE" OR JUST "FORGIVENESS"????
HOPE YOU LIKE IT

1.
The sound of Jason Mraz singing, the cool breeze of the lake, and the stars above our heads filled me with peace. My family and I were at a Mraz concert downtown. Sitting in the highest row didn’t matter because we were together. I felt at ease, but then a vibration came from my pocket. Text Message! It was my best friend Chelsea.
C: I miss youuu biffy
M: I miss you too!
C: I feel like this year we got so much closer at camp, like when people ask who my best friend is I say you no matter what.
M: I totally agree. We got so much closer and I can’t even explain how happy I am that we did. Like you know so much more about me compared to my friends here. No comparison.
C: yes exactlyyyyyy. No comparison what so ever. Like I want you at my wedding standing up there with meee.
M: totally same here! Because we are biffys forevsies:)
C: Biffys Forevsies. I love youuuu!
M: I love you too!

2.
Chelsea and I have known each other for three years. She lives all the way in Detroit so I only get to see her three times a year, unless we visit each other more. We are biffys forevsies, in
proper English best friend forever. When we are together, most the time we are tied to the hips.

3.

4.
Hair drier blowing, sink running, the sound of brushing teeth. One of my best friends Nora and I were getting ready for bed when I found out…
“...so I was talking to Vartan and I brought you up and he was like ‘ugh.’ So I said why say that? And he was like ‘Chelsea told me that Melissa likes me and she told me like everything that Melissa texted her about me.’ So fyi be careful what you tell her…”
Trust.
gone

Confidence.
disappeared

“…and she also told Alina (another one of my best friends) that she wants you to get with one of the guys at camp so you can have more in common with her on that level. Like she always asks you to go with her to hang out with the guys cause she doesn’t want to be the only girl by the guys because she would then look like a whore. So she was kind of manipulating you…”
Respect.
none

5.
Slowly my list of a true friend is cutting down.

6.
The Confrontation…over text:
C: …so I don’t know what’s going to happen with me and Mike…he is trying to break up with his girlfriend…just don’t tell Alina or anyone about this.
M: Of course I won’t, but when I tell you something in confidence don’t tell other people. I heard from someone who talked to Vartan that he thinks I’m like obsessed with him because you told him everything I told you in confidence when all I said was I was crushing on him.
C: Melissa I did that last year. I promise I won’t anymore…if someone liked me I would wanna know the good things they said about me so that why. I always keep the things you tell me in confience.
M: Ok just please don’t tell anyone what I tell you because I tell you stuff I don’t want others to know and I trust you with it all.
C: I promise I won’t anymore. I’ve changed a lot since last year. I take friendship very seriously now.
M: ok
Honesty
well she didn’t try to hide how she told Vartan…

Trust.…Trust…Trust…Trust…Trust.

7.
The question that everyone seems to ask me:
Why are you friends with Chelsea?
